Warhammer Fantasy: Orcs Rule, baby!

As a die hard Orc fan, it is difficult to be unhappy when an Orc army romps and rules over their hapless opponent... even if that opponent happens to be you! And romp they did.

Dave and I played a 3000 point WHFB game at the club on Friday, with his Orcs (well, supplemented by a few of mine) vs my Vampire Counts. It has been a while since I've played Fantasy, so I just grabbed an old list ... first mistake, as this was the list Tim Staines had trounced with an Orc army a few months ago.

Both armies brought a lot of magic, but boy, the Orcs had lots and lots, where as the Vampires only had lots... last time I make that mistake.

However, there were interesting tactics, and lots of cool models on the board. Hey, when else do you get to have a Corpse Cart, Goblin Fanatics, and a Goblin Doom Diver (basically, a goblin with wings strapped on flung from a catapult). All in all, the Orcs overwhelmed the Vampires in the magic phase and then hurled themselves forward with double-choppas flailing to chew up the undead units. By the end of the game, the Orcs had won a Massacre level victory.

Despite the drubbing it was a lot of fun. Dave is a great combination of smart player and good sportsman, so that took some of the sting out of it. I'm hoping we will get to play more WH Fantasy in the coming weeks and months, and maybe I'll figure out how to win with the Vampire Counts.
