THE COBRA STRIKES!
Interested in the world of 54mm miniatures? Charley's Cobras meets monthly to play at Charley Elsden's house in convenient Brooklyn Heights. The adventures of this group are currently being narrated in Historical Miniature Gamer magazine, the new publication that replaced hobby standbys MWAN and THE COURIER. Charley's column has appeared in MWAN for years as "Those Fightin' Fifty-Fours."
We do all periods. So far these have included: The Tai Ping Rebellion (China 1862), Chosin Reservoir (Korean War), and about 10 games of The Sword and the Flame colonial gaming (British or French Foreign Legion). We are now doing ACW (First Bull Run coming up in Sept. 05). We have four regulars, and four occasional types. Come try The Big Scale; its not just for skirmishes anymore. You can contact Charley at celsden@aol.com.
The main discussion group for 54mm is littlewars@yahoogroups.com moderated by Ross McFarlane of Halifax, Canada. He regularly puts on games at the HMGS conventions down in Lancaster, PA in 54mm or 40mm scale along with Rob Dean of the HAWKS club, in the room that club hosts. Over the last 10 years, the "Second Golden Age of Toy Soldiers" has seen the production of many lines of inexpensive historical plastic figures, vehicles, and terrain, which now make gaming in this scale possible. Many "famous" lights of the wargaming hobby are now involved such as Pete Panzeri, Frank Chadwick, and many others! So join the ranks and make H.G. Wells proud!
