Igor is the club's resident miniatures expert, and this is his method for making spears or pikes from florist wire. All pictures are thumbnails that can be clicked on. You can check out more of his work at igwargminis.com.
Step 1 You can buy florist wire in craft stores. There are various thicknesses, but the average length is 18 inches.
Step 2 You will need pliers, cutters and a file. In this case, the pliers also have a wire crimper.
Step 3 Cut the florist wire to the desired length for your spears or pikes.
Step 4 Crimp one end of the wire into a point. This wire will require more force than working with lead.
Step 5 This is what the wire should look like after crimping!
Step 6 Shape the crimped end using the wire cutters.
Step 7 This is what the spear point should look like after shaping!
Step 8 After shaping, it may help to use the file to smooth out your spear, pike or javelin.
